My yoga practice began in my teacher’s backyard.

It was my first exposure to yoga, and I experienced firsthand how a joyful but dare I say, rigid practice could feel. It fed my passion for perfectionism, and though I am forever grateful for the initiation into yoga, it also left me with injuries, instability and the idea that physical manipulation was the goal.

I sought a different approach to the practice. I began to realize that inviting the breath, and starting to take agency over my own body shifted my hope for how yoga can be a lifelong work in transformation. I wanted to feel connected and supported, rather than judged and pushed.

This exploration led me to take a 200 hour teacher training based in the principles of Anusara, Iyengar and Critical Alignment. I began to see how I could cultivate the ability to move in a way that felt good. This began a journey to understand the body even more, where I completed my 300 hour advanced teacher training with a focus on Thai Massage and Yoga Therapy.

I truly believe this practice and it’s many different limbs and approaches can be so balancing; with creativity, playful abandon and an open mind we can heal ourselves.
